You can bypass creating an invoice when writing a manual check. You can post the check directly to the general ledger account(s). The check number is used as the invoice number, and the check date is used as the invoice date.
To write a manual check using GL Distribution

1 On the Accounts Payable Main menu, click Manual Check Entry.

2 At the Bank Code field, enter the bank code.

3 At the Check No field, enter the check number, or click the Quick Print button.

4 On the Header tab, at the Check Date field, enter the check date. This field is skipped if you are using the Quick Print button.

5 At the Check Amount field, type the check amount.

6 At the Vendor No. field, enter the vendor number.

7 Select the G/L Distribution Only check box and click the Lines tab.

8 Click Distribute. The G/L Distributions window appears.

9 At the G/L Account field, enter the general ledger account number.

10 At the Distribution Amount field, enter the distribution amount.

11 Click OK. If you are distributing the amount to multiple general ledger accounts, go to step 12. If you are distributing the amount to a single general ledger account or have finished distributing the amount to multiple general ledger accounts, go to step 13.

12 Repeat steps 8 through 11 to distribute the check to the appropriate general ledger accounts.

13 Click Accept. The Manual Check Entry Lines tab appears.

14 Complete the appropriate fields on the Manual Check Entry Lines tab. Click Accept to save the entry.

15 Print and update the Manual Check Register and Daily Transaction Register.
