How to enter cash sales invoices? |

If your business handles over-the-counter sales (for example, walk-in customers), you can use Invoice Data Entry to record the sale and produce an invoice. When the sale is recorded, the Cash Sales account is debited instead of the Accounts Receivable account, and the customer's balance (if any) is not increased. Use the Quick Print button at the completion of Invoice Data Entry in one-step invoicing situations to quickly produce a printed invoice titled CASH SALE INVOICE to give to the customer as a paid receipt. At the end of the day, a cash receipt for the total amount of all cash sales received should be entered in Accounts Receivable Cash Receipts Entry. This transaction credits the Cash Sales account and debits the Cash In Bank account.
? If this cash sale is made to a "one-time" or temporary customer, type CASH at the Customer No. field. If you are using divisions, you must enter the division number before the word CASH (for example, 01-CASH). You are prompted for the customer name. The name entered prints on the invoice, but the sale is not recorded in the Accounts Receivable Customer master file.
? If the sale is for a permanent customer and you want to record it in the Customer master file to track year-to-date sales, enter a customer number at the Customer No. field. |
